Effective August 28th, 2018 you no longer have to submit fingerprints and background checks to the Illinois Department of Public Health to obtain your Medical Cannabis card. This is a huge step for the Medical Cannabis community and we hope that this makes the process easier for everyone.
The director of the Illinois Department of Public Health, Dr. Nirav Shah, said “the elimination of background checks and fingerprinting for applicants goes into effect immediately, and all patients may now get provisional approval to buy medical marijuana immediately upon receiving a receipt for payment from the state health department.”1
